Daylight View All Over Again

Filed Under:

Or shades of Y2K.

Most people, particularly investors and IT (information technolgy) workers remember the doom saying around Y2K or the potential year 2000 bug. It was theorized that the world of computers would fall apart at midnight Jan. 1 2000 as some software programs went from year '99 to year '00.

Thanks to the fear of disaster and a lot of hard work, most of the potential problems were found and fixed before the 00 deadline. Disaster didn't strike and people were feeling as if it was much ado about nothing. Due to the hardwork preventing disaster, there was no disaster but now we have another impending mess surrounded by apathy.

Daylight Savings Time (DST) is changing 4 weeks early this year.  The U.S. governement changed the DST in the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Just about every device we own tells us the time and date. Cell Phones, PDAs, our computer, cars, e-mail, and more. If your PDA or Blackberry is updated but not your Outlook or Exchange server, you will miss the meeting. The opposite is also true.

Here is a good site with information on how to update your electronic date keepers.

Happy  March 11th!

First Entry

My first ever blog entry.

Why is it called blogging? People have kept 'Journals' for as long as people have been able to write. A journal didn't change name depending on the type of paper or writing instrument used yet someone decided an electronic Journal was different.

Go figure.
